The new site is up at the blog’s old URL. We’re still not open for business, but at least you can see the progress we’ve had over the last few months.
We’ve finally put up the template for our new website. You can find it at our old blog address, www.theonlineclothingboutique. You can also find our Spring/Summer 2009 Scrapbook, with all the upcoming trends you should all be looking out for.
Hi TIL Darlings,
Take a look at T.I.L. Darling’s – The Online Clothing Boutique new product information page. I’m not too sure if it’s complete, but it looks ten times better than our old one.
T.I.L. Darling Clothing Boutique is due to arrive in the USA pretty shortly. I personally arrived this evening after leaving from Heathrow’s Terminal 5. I have to say, Terminal 5 is something else. They have a decently sized Harrod’s store, Gordon Ramsey Restaurant, ITSU, Wagawama, and my favorite Heathrow restaurant, Giraffe. I like the smoothies. By the way, if you happen to have a heavy black Ben Sherman jacket, that’s mine. Yeah, I lost my coat. I also almost missed my flight, but managed to make it on time with my running legs.
I have very mixed reviews about the Giraffe restaurants at Heathrow. A. I like the food well enough. B. Smoothies are okay, but not like Jamba Juice from the States C. The biggest problem is the wait service.
The wait service is visibly miserable because they work at probably the hardest locations in the world. What’s worse, is that they call everyone “darling,” which as you can tell is part of our name. As the bartender from Forgetting Sarah Marshal would say, “you probably think strippers like you too?” I honestly think it’s just as bad as the Hooters restaurant chain.
I have to say, the flight was oddly good. If you are going to hit the West Coast, yes to British Airways, no to United Airline. Virgin Airways, no idea. All I can say is seatguru.com. If you can choose your seat, use it. Anyway, you have your own personal video screen with tons of movies that are played on demand.
The one movie I must mention is The Happening. I decided not to see it back in London when I read the “tomato” rating from rottentomatoes.com. It got blasted. I personally think that it is one of the most freaky and scary movies in the last year.
Anyway, from now on, I’ll be writing from California. So, be prepared for a more Californian point of view, but hopefully I will not forget London. London is so much part of who I am now and I just love it, but T.I.L. Darling is not leaving the UK, but just expanding outside of it.
Okay, so here is roughly how the old shop looks like. We have only done minor changes so far, such as changing the menu fonts to black and making them all in caps. Yeah, I know, hours and hours of work. We’ve also widened the website a big. For some reason, the entire fashion industry has been making their websites wider and wider and wider. Our first website was really narrow looking. Small pictures, small navigation, etc. Then, we changed it to be as wide as our competitors. Three months later, everybody has widened their site by 15 to 20 pixels. Oh well, we have to compete so we’ve widened up. Though you can’t see it from the picture. All the categories will be able to have it’s own picture. For example, if one of the categories is TFNC, we’ll have a TFNC banner above the items. Yes, very standard, but something that we were lacking for a long time.
What’s next??? Well, the big job is next. We’re going to try and redo the entire landing page/front page. Right now, we are debating whether to keep it clean and simple or kind of pimp it out a little bit like topshop’s website. We’ll see soon.
The Category page is still going to change, but this is just what we have for the time being.
