An obsessed fan of Paula Abdul, Paula Godspeed, was found dead in front of the American Idol’s Sherman Oaks, Calif. home. Authorities suspect that is was a suicide by drug overdose.

E! News reported that Godspeed has stalked Abdul for 17 years. She auditioned twice for American Idol and appeared in an episode in 2006 where she said, “I make life-sized drawings of Paula. I have since I was a little girl.” Godspeed performed a cover Ike and Tina Turner’s Proud Mary. “That was terrible, what was that?” judge Randy Jackson said.

TMZ.com snapped a photo of what is suspected to be Godspeed’s car that had a license plate of “ABL LV,” which has been speculated as a combination of “Abdul Love.”

Mental health specialists say that many “extreme fans” either attempt suicide or murder to link themselves to the celebrity. Many times it happens after the “extreme fan” realizes that they will never develop a real relationship with the celebrity.

Her parent’s reported her missing hours before her body was found. They feared that she may hurt herself and believed she may have went to Abdul’s residence.

Honestly, I can think of a million jokes, but I really do find this more sad than anything else. I hate to sound like a public service announcement, but if you know anyone who’s “on the edge,” DO SOMETHING!!! It’s too easy to go on your daily lives and not worry about even your closes friends because you do not believe they would do anything “like that.” One time I was in the London Tube and right when I was getting off the train I noticed this young woman crying and saying incoherent things. Right when I stepped off the train and the door closed, I thought to myself, “fuck, I should have done something.” Well, that was a year ago and I still remember it because I’ve always wondered what happened to her. I always hear of these horrific stories about someone who is in obvious distress, but people just go on about their business up until that person decides to kill him or herself.

Of course, the big question is whether or not A-Rod was there and if Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears ran into each other. A-Rod was in Los Angeles, but there is no confirmation that he was at Dodger Stadium at the performance. Also, we do know that Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears performed one hour apart. So, there is not much that can be proves and therefore nothing exciting for the gossip columns to report, but you can always make your own speculations.
