Billy Bob Thorton’s Boxmasters Cancel Canadian Tour

The Boxmasters have been opening for Willie Nelson in Canada, but a note on Nelson’s website said that the Boxmasters were dropping out “due to one band member and several of the crew having the flu.”

I’m going to guess that the excuse is mostly a contractual thing, similar to Jeremey Pivon’s “mercury poison” excuse for dropping out of his Broadway show.

This is a result of Billy Bob Thorton’s pissy attitude on CBC radio’s “Q” interview with host Ghomeshi.

During his interview, Thorton said that “Canadian audiences seem to be very reserved,” he told Ghomeshi. “We tend to play places where people throw things at each other. Here, they just sort of sit there. And it doesn’t matter what you say to ‘em. … It’s mashed potatoes but no gravy.”

He tried to back out of this statement in front of a Canadian crowd, but apparently he thought they were stupid to and said that, in spite of him talking about Canadian audiences, his remarks were targeted to Ghomeshi, an individual Canadian who most likely hasn’t seen Thorton perform and therefore could not “just sort of sit there” during his performance.

Anyways, I do not think it’s any surprise that Thorton is one of those ACTORS who cannot except that he is an ACTOR who is now trying to pursue his music career.
